RECOMMENDED ACTION: 1. CONDUCT a Public Hearing to adjust service fees for the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division effective July 11, 2006. 2. CLOSE Public Hearing, ADOPT Resolution Number 2006/490 effecting the fee 9 9 adjustments and superseding aind replacing Resolution 2004/48. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: u i The adoption of the attached Resolution will allow the County to recover the costs associated with the listed activities in the Fee chedule dated July 1, 2006. III. BACKGROUND: In the 1994-1995 fiscal year, the Forensic Services Division was required to cover costs of all services from laboratory users. A fee schedule was established defining the costs of evidence examination services for the users of laboratory services. The Forensic Services Division hast experienced increases in costs for salaries and supply costs since the implementation of the feel schedule currently in use and the new schedule includes fees for evidence examination services that have been added since the last Board approval. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Negati a action will result in insufficient revenue to offset the cost of these activities. The County will bear the burden of the increased cost of providing laboratory examination services to law enforcement agencies and other entities requesting service.
