SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20100 adding twenty-two (22) permanent full-time
Eligibility Worker I (XHWA) positions. (Represented)
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action will result in an annual cost of $1,087,944.00. These positions are 100% funded by state
and federal revenues.
BACKGROUND:
The Department has continued to experience a significant increase in Intake applications over the last
few months. This has increased the continuing caseload numbers in the Medi-Cal program. In order
to alleviate workload issues in these programs, the Department would like to conduct an Eligibility
Work Training unit, which would be staffed by these requested positions.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The consequence of negative action will result in continued understaffing being experienced in line
positions. The Department would also need to continue to offer overtime to existing staff to
compensate for additional cases. The Department would also be out of compliance with the service
delivery model for CaIWIN and the Medi-Cal Service Center.
