HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07262006 - C.45 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISO is ) Contra FROM: William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director 1�+� oj, uy Costa By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator DATE: July 26, 2006 .ra(WIN County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract 474-174-3 with Bi-Bett Corporation SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): 1 Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Haven Fearn) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #74-174-3 with Bii Bett Corporation, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $2,101,459, to provide substance abuse prevention, treatment, and testing services, for the period from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by federal programs, including Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention (SAPT), perinatal set-aside, and a block grant through the State Substance Abuse Treatment and Testing Accountability(SATTA) SB 223 Program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This Alcohol and Drug Abuse prevention program supports the Board of Supervisors' "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing" and `Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" community outcomes by providing individual, group, and family counseling; substance abuse education; rehabilitation support services; and substance abuse prevention services. Expected outcomes include increased knowledge about the impact of addiction; decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; increased use of community-based resources; and increased school and community support for youth and parents in recovery. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides specialized substance abuse treatment services so that men and women, including women with children, are provided an opportunity to achieve sobriety and recover from the effects of alcohol and other drug use, become self-sufficient, and return to their families as productive individuals. On June 7, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-174-2 with Bi-Bett Corporation, for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, for the provision substance abuse services for County residents. Approval of Contract #74-174-3 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2007.
