SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Pat Godley) to execute on
behalf of the County, Contract #23-391 with Laura Swafford, a self-employed individual, in an
amount not to exceed $75,000, to provide professional consultation, technical support, and training
services to the Department's Information Systems with regard to enhanced utilization of the Keane
Patcom System, for the period from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.

This Contract is funded 100%by Enterprise I Budget.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
Under Contract #23,-391, the Contractor will provide professional consultation, to the
Department's Information System Director with regard to enhancement of the Keane Patcom
Systems, including technical support, and provide training to County-selected staff on the Patcom
Software Product. Contractor's activities shall include, but are not limited to interviewing Patient
Accounting and Information Systems (IS) staff to determine best approach for converting record
format for the Hospital Council Data Sharing Program, and make recommendations to the IS
Director on best practices on meeting the objectives of the business strategy, through June 30,
2007.
