APPROVE the Contra Costa County Human Relations Commission(HRC) to host the third annual Bridging the
Gap Achievement Award Banquet to recognize and salute outstanding individuals, organizations, associations,
businesses, and community activities in the public and private sectors,

BACKGROUND:
The function of the Human Relations Commission is to foster peaceful relations in the interest of preserving the
public peace among citizens of different races, religions, and national origins; and, to promote positive human
relationships for the purpose of insuring public peace,health and safety and the general welfare.
One nominee is selected from each of the five county districts for recognition. The selection is based on:
• Active roles in helping to educate and promote cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion through
training or other programs.
• Active roles in promoting and supporting non-violent events and programs.
• Active roles in teaching beneficial life skills, fostering mutual respect, and harmoniously living with
other.
The Chair of the Board of Supervisors is invited to present plaques to selected award recipients. Supervisors
from all districts are invited to share the award dais during the ceremony.
