RECOMMENDATION
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase two vehicles for the
Contra Costa Fire Protection District as recommended by the General Services Director.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Contra Costa Fire Protection District is purchasing two vehicles for an estimated cost of$60,000,
which will be funded by the Fire Protection District.
BACKGROUND
The Contra Costa Fire Protection District is replacing afive-year old truck with almost 90,000 miles
that needs repairs that exceed its value. The second vehicle purchase is for a cab and chassis,
which will use the utility body of an existing piece of equipment. These vehicles are not on the- Roard
Approved Master List for Vehicle Replacement in FY2005-06.
Therefore, in accordance with Administrative Bulletin No. 508: "County Vehicle and Equipment
Acquisition and Replacement Policy with Guidelines," approval is requested for the purchase of the
above-referenced vehicles. Based on a review of the need for the new vehicles and consideration of
alternative fueled vehicles, the Fleet Manager recommends approval of this request. This request has
been reviewed and approved by the County Administrator.
