SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMIIIENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee(Wendel Brunner,MD)to execute
on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #28-556-10 with the City of Martinez, a public Agency,
to pay County an amount not to exceed $11,600, to provide congregate meal services for County's
Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. This Novation
Contract includes a three.-month automatic extension through September 30, 2006, in an amount not
to exceed$2,900.
FISCAL IlVII'ACT:
No County funds are required.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOXiVENDATION(S):
This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides an average of 40
congregate meals per day, five days per week for senior citizens at its Martinez Senior Citizens Center.
On June 8, 2004, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract#28-556-9 with the City of
Martinez, for the period from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005 (which included a three.-month
automatic extension through September 30, 2005) for the provision of congregate meal services for
County's Senior Nutrition Program.
Approval of Novation Contract #28.-556-10 will replace the automatic extension under the prior
Contract and will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2006*
