FISCAL IMPACT: Other than the staff resources to organize the workshops,the proposal is estimated to require only a nominal investment of approximately$150 for copying and mailing of flyers and refreshments. This cost can be accommodated within the approved budget of the County Administrator's Office. The objectives of the proposed workshops are to: ■ Instruct businesses on"how to do business"with County departments ■ Provide businesses networking opportunities with department staff and local chambers of commerce ■ Provide businesses an opportunity to receive and complete the County's Self-Certification form in order to obtain a listing in the County's SBE and Outreach Directory. ■ Provide businesses information on upcoming contracting opportunities offered by County departments ■ Provide businesses information on the County's SBE, Outreach, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Programs The proposed workshops would also provide County departments with the opportunity to: ■ Become acquainted with new businesses ■ Become acquainted with businesses that provide"hard to find"services ■ Expand the SBE and Outreach Directory by certifying additional businesses ■ Expand their outreach efforts to meet Outreach and SBE Program objectives and requirements ■ Increase competitiveness in the bidding process The Internal Operations Committee supports the recommendations of the Advisory Council and requested the Affirmative Action Officer to begin making arrangements for the proposed workshops.
