RESOLUTION HONORING MICHAEL F. HOFFSCHNHDER, RESOLUTION NOO, 20041519
FOR HIS MERITORIOUS CAREER AND RETIREMENT
FROM THE U,S. DE TMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS
WHEREAS, Michael F.Hoffschneider will be retiring October 1, 2004 with over 30 years of distinguished
service with the VA Veterans Benefits Administration(VBA),as the Veterans Service Center Manager,VA
Regional Office,Oakland,California; and
WHEREAS, Michael,respectfully known as"Hoff"by many associates, colleagues and friends,resides in
Lafayette, California, with his spouse,Conny, retired from Kaiser Permanente, and their twin daughters,Nicole
and Jessica, both seniors at Acalanes High School; and
WHEREAS,Hoff was raised in Oakland,California. He served honorably for three years with the U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War and graduated from University of California at Berkeley,June 1973. During his tenure
with the VA, he earned his Masters degree in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy University, Orinda,
California; and
WHEREAS, Hoff has a local and national reputation for his excellence,knowledge and administrative
leadership in the adjudication of complex VA disability compensation,pension and death claims. Thousands of
Contra Costa Veterans,their dependents and survivors have had their lives enhanced by his professionalism and
diligence and partnership with the Contra Costa County Veterans Services Department; and
WHEREAS, Hoff has earned the respect and gratitude from stakeholders such as Veteran Service Organizations
(VSO's)and County Veterans Service Officers (CVSO's),and their respective staff in Californiaand
throughout the nation. In addition,Hoff set high standards in regard to training of stakeholders in the mutual
goal of providing the best of service to the veteran community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby
Congratulate and Honor

Upon his retirement and wishes him and his family happiness and prosperity in the coming years.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors members present this 28th day of September 2004.
