SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
1. EXERCISE the first option for a five-year extension of the Lease dated January 1, 2000 with
North Richmond Commercial Development, Inc. for the premises at 1535 3rd Street, Richmond,
for continued occupancy by the Employment and Human Services Department, under the terms
and conditions more particularly set forth in the Lease.
2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to EXERCISE any additional
options to extend the Lease.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The exercise of the first option was anticipated and sufficient funds budgeted in the Employment and
Human Services Department approved FY 2004/2005 approved budget. The first option is for a term
of five years, effective January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2009. The rental rate for the first year
is $915 per month, an increase of$30 per month over the previous rate.
BACKGROUND
The County has leased the premises, which consists of approximately 5,069 square feet of office
Space, for operation of the Service Integration Team since January 1, 2000. The second option is
for a term of three years, effective January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2012. The Lease provides
a third and final option for the period January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2014.
