APPROVE Traffic Resolution No. 2004/4081 and RESCIND Traffic Ordinance No. 71-89
establishing speed limits on Knightsen Avenue, Knightsen area.

BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
On the basis of an engineering and traffic survey and recommendations thereon by the County Public
Works Department's Transportation Engineering Division and pursuant to County Ordinance Code
Sections 46-2.002 — 46-2.012, this traffic regulation is established (and other action taken as
indicated).
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Unable to use local authorities powers to enforce the California Vehicle Code.

The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors RESOLVES that:
On the basis of an engineering and traffic survey and recommendations thereon by the County
Public Works Department's Transportation Engineering Division and pursuant to County Ordinance
Code Sections 462.002—46-2.012,the following traffic regulation is established (and other action
taken as indicated):
Pursuant to Section 22358 of the California Vehicle Code, no vehicle shall travel on Knightsen
Avenue (Road No. 8851 A), Knightsen area, at a speed greater than those listed as follows:
50 miles per hour on that portion of Knightsen Avenue beginning at East Cypress Road
(Road No.8271A) and extending southerly to a point 0.75 mile south of East Cypress
Road, and
35 miles per hour beginning at a point 0.75 mile south of East Cypress Road and extending
southerly and south easterly to the intersection of"A" Street (Road No. 8665C), and
25 miles per hour beginning at the intersection of"A"Street and extending southeasterly to
the intersection of Delta Road (Road No. 8261), and
40 miles per hour beginning at the intersection of Delta Road and extending southeasterly
0.34 mile to the curve intersection of Eden Plains Road (Road No. 8851 B).
Traffic Ordinance No. 71-89 pertaining to speed limits is hereby rescinded.

Road (Road No. 5185AE), and
45 miles per hour beginning at a point 700 feet west of the intersection of McAvoy Road
and extending westerly to Nichols Road (Road No.4993).
