RECOMMENDATION:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 19762 adding one Clerk -- Experienced Level in the Community
Development Department as recommended by the Human Resources Director,
FISCAL IMPACT: There are no Net County Costs associated with this action. This position will be fully
funded through the use of application fees. According to the Community Development Department, there will
be a yearly cast of$37,265.40 plus benefits per annum.
BACKGROUND The Community Development Department is requesting this addition to accommodate the

need for additional clerical staff. Recently, a 32140 Clerk — Experienced Levl position was cancelled to
accommodate other staffing needs in the Department and inability to fill a part-time position. The Community
Development Department is requesting a full-time position in their Current Plal ning Division with hopes for
increased interest in the vacancy.
Ct NSE ,UENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The added classification of Clerk -- Experienced Level better
represents the needs of the Community Development Department. Not adding the position will continue to
cause Community Development to have insufficient clerical staff necessary to perform the required duties.

ADD one (1) Clerk—Experienced Level (JWXB) 40/40 position at salary level 3RH — 0750
($2,502.90 - $3,105.45).
4 The Department is requesting the addition of a Clerk—Experienced Level position due to an
increase in workload on current staff. Recently, a 32/40 Clerk—Experienced Level position
was cancelled to accommodate other staffing needs in the Department and inability to fill a
part-time position. The Community Development Department is requesting a full-time
position in their Current Planning Division with hopes for increased interest in the vacancy.
The position will perform experienced level clerical activities including duties such as:
posting information from various reports and documents to appropriate records; sorting and
filing correspondence,bills, invoices, requisitions, demands, contracts,permits, applications,
work orders, purchase orders, inter-office memoranda and a wide variety of other documents;
giving out information over the telephone and making appointments; operating miscellaneous
office machines including mimeographs, microfiche viewers, photo-copiers and calculators;
and maintaining simple records of office accounts.
4 Staff has reviewed the duties to be performed and determined that Clerk—Experienced Level
is the appropriate classification.
-f- Application approval fees will offset the cost of this action. No General Fund monies are
required. Costs associated with this action total $37,265.40 plus benefits per annum.
• Local 2740 has been contacted regarding this action.
• This action will go into effect the day following Board Action.
