NOES: None . ABSENT: Supervisor Powers . ABSTAIN: None . SUBJECT: Authorization to pay travel related expenses for appointees to positions as Physical Therapist The Health Services Director having advised the Board that a chronic continuing problem exists for recruiting physical therapists to fill authorized budgeted po- sitions for which an approval to fill has been granted; and that due to a nation-wide shortage of physical therapists, it has become necessary to seek out qualified applicants from outside the greater San Francisco Bay Area for such positions; and that it is necessary and appropriate to reimburse such appointees under certain specified conditions. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Auditor-Controller may reimburse, upon presentation of a Demand, appointees to the position of physical therapist for reasonable and necessary travel related expenses connected with their appearance for an interview under the following conditions: 1. A Demand for reimbursement may be made upon the appointee reporting to work in a permanent position; and 2. To qualify for reimbursement, appointees must have traveled from a location outside the greater San Francisco Bay Area for the interview and only expenses related to one such interview will be reimbursed; and 3. Reimbursement is limited to a maximum of $600/person and will be paid from the Department's current budgeted funds. No additional funds will be appro- priated for this purpose.
