Community Development-CDBG JOHN SWEETEN, CLERK OF cc: County Administrator THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Auditor- Controller AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BY4 oeEPUTY BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District (PHRPD) Board of Directors requests reimbursement from the County's Park Dedication Trust Fund to help pay the cost to renovate Rogers-Smith Park in Pleasant Hill. It is the policy of the County to utilize park dedication funds to meet local park needs. Staff has determined that this action is consistent with that policy and is consistent with the PHRPD's Park Master Plan. Rogers--Smith Park is located on Grayson Road. It is designed as a community park and consists of restrooms, a turf area, a picnic and BBQ area, children's playground, lighted Bocce ball courts, basketball courts, sports field and parking. Improvements to the park include installing a larger ADA compliant playground, adding additional lights to the Bocce ball courts, and repaving the sports court area and the parking lot. The total cost of the project is $262,712. PHRPD was able to utilize State grant money ($115,892), City of Pleasant Hill Parkland Dedication funds ($51,158), and its own capital fund ($45,662) to help finance the majority of the project. PHRPD will use the County funds to pay the balance of the cost of the project. The project was competitively bid in March 2003 and completed in November2003. There are sufficient funds in the appropriate Park Dedication Trust accounts to approve PHRPD's request.
