RECOMMENDATION: Declare as surplus and authorize the Sheriff, or his designee, transfer and exchange specific scientific equipment used by the Forensic Services Division with the Forensic Analytical Laboratory of Hayward, California. 11. FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE. This represents an even exchange; there is no Cost to the County. Ill. BACKGROUND: The scientific equipment listed below is no longer required for use by the Forensic Services Division of the Office of the Sheriff. This equipment has been replaced by the 'Forensic Services Division. Due to its age(27 years), it has limited value on the surplus market. However, the Forensic Analytical Laboratory of Hayward, California has offered to purchase several pieces of new equipment (value of$6,260) for the Forensic Services Division in exchange for the surplus items. The pieces of equipment being offered in trade are items needed by the Forensic Services Division. Receiving the items in trade for the surplus equipment relieves the Division from making these necessary purchases.
