BACKGROUND/REASON(S1 FOR RECClMMENDATIONN: State and Federal regulations require the Health Services Department to have available interpretation services for non-English speaking residents using the County's Health Services. This Contractor recruits, screens, trains, supervises, and otherwise provides qualified interpreters to provide over-the-phone foreign language translation services, with over 100 languages from Vietnamese to Portuguese, for Contra Costa Health Plan patients. On September 9, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-543-1 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement#27-543-2)with Cyracom International, Inc, for the period from September 1, 2003 through August 31, 2004, for the provision of over-the-phone interpreter services. Approval of Contract #276-543-3 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through August 31,2005. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to execute the agreement and to issue written authorizations for extra work provided that the cumulative total extra cost for all such authorizations shall not exceed $10,000. FINANCIAL IMPACT Project costs are funded from the Redevelopment Agency's budget. BACKGROUND The project includes interior tenant improvements of approximately 6,284 square feet of leased space located at 1785 Arnold Drive, Martinez, for the Community Development Department's Redevelopment Agency. The existing space is in a shell condition; therefore the improvements will include new interior walls, new interior mechanical and electrical systems, and all new interior wall, floor, and ceiling finishes. Ottolini-Booth & Associates ("OBA") will provide professional architectural services, from the Schematic Design Phase through the Construction Administration Phase, for the tenant improvements project. OBA was selected through a Request for Qualifications process. Interviews were conducted by a selection committee comprised of County staff from the Redevelopment Agency and the General Services Department. OBA was the highest-ranked firm.
