RE For severay years he County, hap contracted with registries to iprovide temporary Medical professionals to assist Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers during peak goads, temporary absences, and emergency situations . There is a nationwide nursing and healthcare staff shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses and other healthcare staff, the Department has experienced creat difficulty in filling any vacant positions . Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality nursing care for pa=ients8 On jaauary 28, 2003 , the Board of Supervisors approved Contract 26- 335-2 with California Nurses Bureau, for the period from January 1, 200.E through December 31, 2003 , :.o provide nursing registry services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. Approval of Contract.
