1, Recommended Action.
DETERMINE that there is a need to continue the emergency action taken by the Board of
Supervisors on June 17, 2003, pursuant to Public Contract Code Sections 22035 and
22050, to repair the erosion along San Ramon Creek at Casa Vallecita, Alamo area.

11. Financial Impact:
The total estimated contract cost is $335,000, initially funded by Flood Control Zone 3B
Funds (100%). Recovery of project costs from those parties responsible for installation of
faulty improvements and failure to maintain improvements associated with Minor
Subdivision #105-88 is being pursued by the Flood Control and Water Conservation
District.
Ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
A. On June 17, 2003, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and authorized
the Public Works Director to proceed in the most expeditious manner to repair the
erosion and failed bank slope protection.
B. Repair status:
The project was put out to bid on July 2, 2003. Bids are scheduled to be opened on
July 22, 2003. Construction is scheduled to begin on August 4, 2003.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
Non-concurrence of the above recommendation will delay repair of the creek bank until
2404 resulting in loss of additional creek bank slope protection sending large amounts of
silt downstream. The continued erosion could also result in loss of the private Casa
Vallecita bridge severely limiting access to three residences.
