FISCAL, IMPACT This contract is included in the Health Services Department Enterprise I budget . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: For several years the County has contracted with registries to provide temporary medical professionals to assist Contra . Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers during peak loads, temporary absences, and emergency situations . There is a nationwide nursing and healthcare staff shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses and other healthcare staff, the Department has experienced great difficulty in filling any vacant positions . Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality nursing care for patients. On September 17, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26- 458 (as amended by Contact Amendment Agreement #26-458-1) , with Access Nurses to provide temporary nursing services, as requested by the Department, for the period from September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2003 . Approval of Contract #26-458-2 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide temporary nursing coverage services through August 31, 2004 . T.. Under Contract ##76-511, Brett V. Curtis, M.D. , Inc. will provide Physician services for the County' s Adult and Juvenile Detention Facilities, including clinical services, on-call coverage as Medical Physician for the County' s Adult and Juvenile Detention Facility, through August 31, 2005 . Against Domestic Violence, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $100,983, to provide domestic violence counseling services, for the period from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2404, This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2004 in an amount not to exceed $50,442. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is 100% funded by State Prop 10 and CaIWOR.Ks funds. AC It f AS F€) E '� ENI) 1I0N This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides intake, crisis intervention, and counseling services for substance abusing and/or mentally ill participants in the State Prop 10 or CalWOR s programs, who have also experienced domestic violence, to help eliminate barriers to employment. On August 6, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract 74-060-5 (as amended by #74- 060-6) with STAND! Against Domestic Violence, for the period from July 1, 2442 through.Tune 30, 2003 (which included an automatic extension through December 31, 2403) for the provision of program development, technical assistance, and training to SAMHWorks providers, and domestic violence services to CaIWORKs clients.
