Recommended Action: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer, or designee, to execute an amendment to the contract with Fugro Nest,Incorporated,effective August 12,2003,extending the completion date from October 31, 2003 to December 31,2003,and increasing the payment limits from$208,550.00 to$230,550.00,to provide additional geotechnical services to the District as required by the State Division of Safety of Dams, for the Upper and Lower Sand Creek Basins Geotechnical Study,Brentwood area(Drainage Area 104)(Districts III, V)Project No. 7589-6D-8443 and 7589-6D-8446. August 12, 2003 PAGE 2 II. FinancialImpact; There will be no impact to the County{general Fund. This increase to the consulting services contract will be paid for by Drainage Area 104 funds. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Backeround: The Upper and.Lower Sand Creek.Basins are regional detention basin facilities planned for remediation of storm waters generated by the future urban development in the Antioch and Brentwood areas,within the Sand Creek Watershed. The basins are large facilities capable of holding large quantities of storm waters. The State Division of Darn.Safety has required the consultant to perform additional testing and mapping above what was originally included in the original contract. All of the testing must be done by a certified geotechnical engineer. IV. Consequences of Neeative Action: If this Board Order is not approved, the consulting services agreement will not be executed and future construction of the basins will be delayed. v1 .
