SUBJECT: ONE-YEAR LEASE RENEWAL FOR THE YMCA OF THE EAST BAY
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND ARI�STIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE one-year lease renewal for the YMCA of the East Bay and AUTHORIZE the Executive
Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa to enter into a one-year lease
renewal with the YMCA of the East Bay for use of#2-C California Street, in Bayo Vista, Rodeo,
California, as stated in the attached lease renewal.
Il. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
In consideration for the services provided to the youth of Bayo Vista, the Housing Authority will
lease 2,408 square feet of space at $100 a month. No County General Funds are required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND
The YMCA uses the premises to provide youth programs, including recreation activities and has
been an important pert of the Bayo Vista community, since 1992. This lease with the YMCA is
allowable under the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines and has
been in effect since September 1, 2001.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the Board of Commissioners elect not to authorize the Executive Director to enter into the
one-year lease renewal with the YMCA, the services provided to the residents of Bayo Vista may
no longer be available, and this would be detrimental to the resident youth activities of this public
housing development, as well as the community.

RENEWAL OF LEASE
THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT made and entered into this I"
day of July, 2003-, by and between the HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE
COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA,herinafter referred to as the"Authority", and
Partners In Health,Contra Costa County Health Services Department .,herinafter
to be referred to as the"Agency":
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS,by lease agreement between the parties hereto, dated
September 1,2001 ,the Authority leased to Agency the right and
privilege of occupying space in the #2-C CALIFORNIA STREET,BAYO
VISTA, RODEO, CALIFORNIA of the Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Agency desires and the Authority is willing that such
lease be renewed for the term of one(1)year.
NOW, THEREFORE,the Authority for and in consideration of the
promises and covenants in the aforesaid lease, and other valuable consideration,
the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged,hereby agrees that said lease shall
be, and it hereby is, renewed beginning JULY 1, 2003 and ending
JUNE 30,2004.
The Agency hereby covenants and agrees that during the course of the
renewal period the Agency shall perform and be bound by all of the covenants
and conditions contained in said lease agreement of September 1, 2001
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have set their hands the day and
year first herein above set forth.
