H. Financiallmpact:
The total estimated contract cost is$380,000, initially funded by Flood Control Zone
3B Funds (100%). Recovery of project costs from those parties responsible for
installation of faulty improvements and failure to maintain improvements associated
with Minor Subdivision #105-88 is being pursued by the Flood Control and Water
Conservation District.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Baggroun;d:
A. 4n June 17, 2003, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and
authorized the Public Works Director to proceed in the most expeditious manner
to repair the erosion and failed bank slope protection.
B. Repair status:
The project design is 65% complete and is scheduled to be put out to bid on
Judy 1, 2003 with a ten (10) day advertisement. Bids are scheduled to be
opened on July 10, 2003. Construction is scheduled to begin on August 4,
2003.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
Non-concurrence of the above recommendation will delay repair of the creek bank
until 2004 resulting in loss of additional creek bank slope protection sending large
amounts of silt downstream. The continued erosion could also result in loss of the
private Casa Valiecita bridge severely limiting access to three residences.
