C>FIIL DRFNIS IMPACT STATEMENT- This contract supports all five community outcomes: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2)"Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3)"Families that are Economically Self-Sufficient"; 4)"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families." FPSP offers a wide range of services that benefit the community, including but not limited to enrichment activities for youth., mental health counseling, access and referral to community resources, childcare, employment training, recreation, and transportation. RACKGR O7I TND! Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) issued a Request For Proposals (RFP #1054) in May 2000 and selected the above community-based organizations to provide services under the Promoting Safe and Stable Families (PSSF) Program, formerly known as the Family Preservation and Support Program. Each contractor represents a collaboration of local groups organized to develop and strengthen community resources and linkages. PSSF serves over 1,000 county residents and targets the communities of Coronado (Richmond), North Richmond, Bay Point and Parkside (Pittsburg). The program offers a wide range of services designed to support families and prevent entry into the child welfare system. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is included in the Health Services Department's Budget and is funded by AB 2185 inspection fees. BACKGROUNDLUASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATIONtS): This Contract provides Hazardous Materials Training for the Richmond Fire Department. The training includes special Hazardous Materials training classes through the University of California Extension, the California Fire Academy, and the California Specialized Training Institute; Hazardous Materials First Responder classes through the community college; and in- house training by individual experts. On September 11, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract#22-351-10 for provision of hazardous materials training, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2003 (which included a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2003). Approval of Novation Contract #22-351-10 replaces the six-month automatic extension under the prior Contract and allows Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2005. The County has contracted with the City of Richmond Fire Department since January 1988 to provide certain AB 2185 inspections at County's request. On September 11, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract#22-276-14 to provide AB 2185 inspections, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2003 (which included a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2003).
