SUBJECT: Authorization to Pay Prior Year Temporary Upgrade Wages
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATIO S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of the Employment & Human Services
Department to process a pay warrant request for Juan Caballero, Employee #53582.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. The amount requested for this transaction was already included in the
Department's budget for fiscal year 2002-03.
BACKGROUNDIREASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
The Employment & Human Services Department was aware that the temporary upgrade
for Mr. Caballero expired on March 31, 2002. However, Mr. Caballero continued to
work in the assignment of maintaining the Welfare Case Data System due to his
expertise and the lack of a replacement through May 31, 2003.
This warrant would be for the difference in salary of his permanent classification of
Social Service Information Systems Analyst, Step 5, (XQWD) and the classification of
Senior Social Service Information Analyst, Step 1, (XQVC) for the period of April 2,
2002 through May 31, 2003.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to pay this discrepancy in Salary level will deny the employee of just
compensation for work performed.
