TEACHING STAFF SERVICES
Specific Request(S)or Recommendation (S) & Background and Justification
RECOMMENDATION (S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Department Director or designee to
execute contract#38-481-3 with TempCare Teacher's Connection in the amount of$150,000
for the provision of contracted temporary teaching staff services for the period from
September 15, 2002 through March 14, 2003.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This contract is federally funded through the Head Start Basic Grant. Funding for this
contract is included in the Community Services Department's FY2002-03 budget. There is no
net County cost to this contract.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department Child Development Division supports two of Contra
Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"
and "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by
offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.

program, temporary teaching staff services are contracted to keep the child-teacher ratio in
the Community Services Department classrooms in compliance with federal and State
regulations.
Approval of this contract will provide continuing temporary teaching staff services through
March 14. 2003.
