t ?H,b EAS, the Diablo Symphony was organized in 1962 as a community-based orchestra of
professionally-trained musicians; and
EREAS, the Diablo Symphonyis the oldest performing orchestra in Contra Costa County;
and
UNERAS, the Diablo Symphony has earned a devoted fallowing among concert audiences
from throughout the county at the Chronicle Pavilion at Concord, the Dean Lesher Regional Center
for the Arts in Walnut Creek, and other venues; and
HEREAS, the orchestra has become a cultural asset in our region, and
UW'EI EAS, the Diablo Symphony, begins its Fortieth Anniversary season on September 22,,
2002
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED that the Board of Supervisors recognizes the
orchestra's longevity and its contribution to the cultural life and vitality of the community, and
hereby declares September 22, 2002 "Diablo Symphony Day"in Contra Costa County, saluting all
those who are contributing to this celebration.
