Responsibility for outpatient mental health specialty services involves contracts with individual, group and organizational providers to deliver these services. On June 19, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract 24-950-44 (2) with Traditions Behavioral Health Inc. , for the period from July 1, 200,1 through June 30, 2002, for the Medi-Cal mental health specialty services. .Approval of Contract #24-950-44 (3) will allow the Contractor to continue providing services, through June 30, 2003. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): Due to State and Federal regulations the Health Services Department is required to have available interpretation services for non-english speaking residents using the County' s Health Services . This Contractor shall recruit, screen, train, supervise, and otherwise provide qualified interpreters to provide over-the-phone foreign language translation services, with over 100 languages from Vietnamese to Portuguese, for Contra Costa Health Plan patients . Under Contract #27-543, the Contractor shall provide imperative translation services to Health Plan patient' s who need access to facilities and healthcare, when a translator is not physically available, through August 31, 2003 . II. Financial Impact: There is no impact to the County General Fund. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Interactive Associates has been working with the Department to improve the morale in the Maintenance Division.The managers and employees are both pleased with the progress we have made.The original scope of work is essentially completed,however,we have recognized a need for some additional services to assure the changes we are making will continue. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: If we are unable to add this work to the contract,some of the critical issues we have been addressing may not be resolved adequately.
