RESOLUTION HONORING THE RESOLUTION NO. 2002569
MOUNT DIABLO AUDUBON
SOCIETY AT THE CELEBRATION
OF IT'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS,Mt. Diablo Audubon Society has been extensively involved in the protection and recovery of
McNabney Marsh in Martinez, an area that was saved with the settlement from an oil spill years ago; and
WHEREAS, Mt. Diablo Audubon Society worked with East Bay Regional Park District on the establishment
and development of Waterbird Park in Martinez; and
WHEREAS, Mt. Diablo Audubon Society'has provided Audubon Adventures to over 90 classrooms (3000
students) throughout Contra Costa County. Since 1984 Audubon Adventures has provided basic, scientifically
accurate facts about birds and wildlife and their habitats. j
WHEREAS, Mt. Diablo Audubon Society partnered with Native Bird Connections and Wild Birds Unlimited
to develop a life science course of study for freshman and sophomore high school students; and
WHEREAS, Mt.Diablo Audubon Society participates in many events and festivals in Contra Costa and
Northern California to help educate the public about birds and the habit;#they require; and

WHEREAS, Mt.Diablo Audubon Society has just completed the Contra Costa County Breeding Bird Atlas.
This project took Five years and will be an important tool in the battle toreserve.open space andbreeding
habitats for birds.

WHEREAS,Saint Mary's College of California is one of the eldest Colleges in the Nest, having been founded
in 1.803 in San Francisco, was relocated in Oakland from 1889-1928 when it was moved to the Moraga Valleys
and
WHEREAS, Saint Mary's College of California has established itself as a premier institution of higher
learning administered and operated by the Christian Brothers, and
WHEREAS, Saint Mary's College of California has excelledby adhering to its Catholic,Lasallian and liberal
arts and traditions, and
WHEREAS, Saint Mary's College of California is an outstanding neigor to residents and organizations in
