1, Recommended Action:
DETERMINE that there is a need to continue the emergency action taken by the
Board of Supervisors on April 16, 2002, pursuant to Public Contract Code Sections
22035 and 22050, to repair the erosion along Christie Road, Hercules area.

11. Financial Impact:
The low bid is$471,810. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is funding
43.5%of this project with the remainder to be matched by local road funds. There is
no impact to the General Fund,
I'll. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
A. On April 16, 2002, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and
authorized the Public Works Director to proceed in the most expeditious manner
to repair the erosion and failed pavement.
B. Repair status:
The project was awarded to Condon-Johnson of Oakland; construction
began July 8, 2002.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
A negative action would slow the repair process, causing the project to be delayed
and providing the opportunity for more damage to occur along the roadway.
