BACKGROUND /REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
The Community Development Department has received a request from the Bethel Island
Municipal Improvement District(BIMID) and the Bethel Island Municipal Advisory Council
(BIMAC)to allocate$100,000 in park dedication trust funds to purchase a one-acre parcel
located at 6190 Bethel Island Road for the purpose of a park for the Bethel Island and
Hotchkiss residents. In evaluating the request, staff determined that an appraisal of the
property and a Phase I Environmental Review are required before the request may be
considered by the Board of Supervisors. Staff estimates that an appraisal and
environmental review will cost no more than $10,000 to complete. BIMID and BIMAC have
submitted an application to the Community Development Department to initiate the land
use review process necessary to determine that the property is consistent with the General
Plan for use as a community park.
