APPROVE the Right of Way Contract and ACCEPT the Grant of Easement and Temporary Construction Easement from East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). C. AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute said Right of Way Contract, Grant of Easement, and Temporary Construction Easement(TCE) on behalf of the County. D. APPROVE payment of$3,000 for said property rights and AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller to issue a check in said amount payable to East Bay Municipal Utility District to be forwarded to the Real Property Division for delivery. An engineered embankment design is the proposed stabilization solution. The repair will consist of excavating the material from the slide area down to stronger underlying material and re-compacting the soil with the installation of a geogrid strip matrix and a rock buttress to key the toe of the slope into the stronger underlying base material(See Fig.4). The area of excavation for slide 1 will be,approximately 75- feet wide(adjacent to the roadway)by 80 feet long(perpendicular to the roadway);for slide 2,approximately 70-feet wide by 90-feet long;and for slide 3,approximately 65-feet wide by 85-feet long(See Fig.3). Through traffic will be limited to one-lane access during the majority of the project with intermittent road closures. Appropriate advance notification will be used to detour traffic during work requiring road closures. Access roads may need to be constructed In order to remove loose slide material and construct the engineered embankments. In order to construct the access roads and repair the slides, it may be necessary to clear and trim a minor amount of the surrounding vegetation, including a total of about 20 trees ranging In size from 0.5 to 1.5 ft dbh. Tree species to be removed include Coast live oak (Quercus agrfiblia),California bay(Umbellularia califamice)and walnut(Jugtans). All exposed areas will be hydro-seeded for erosion and sediment control purposes. Real property transactions and acquiring access through adjacent EBMUD property may be necessary in order to reach the slide area during construction.
