SUBJECT: CONTINUE the emergency action originally taken by the Board of
Supervisors on June 4, 2402 regarding the repair of the erosion along
Carquinez Scenic Drive, as recommended by the Public Works Director;
APPROVE the plans and specifications for this project, Crockett area. [CDD-
CP # 02-02] (District II) Project No.: 0672-6U2526-02
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATICN
I. Recommended Action:
DETERMINE that there is a need to continue the emergency action taken by the
Board of Supervisors on June 4, 2002, pursuant to Public Contract Code Sections
22035 and 22050, to repair the erosion along Carquinez Scenic Drive, Crockett
area;
APPROVE the plans and specifications for this project.

II. Financiallmpact:
The total estimated contract cost is$260,000,funded by Local Road Funds(100%).
Ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
A. On June 4, 2002, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and
authorized the Public Works Director to proceed in the most expeditious manner
to repair the erosion and failed pavement.
B. Repair status:
The project design was put out to bid on July 9, 2002 with a four (4) week
advertisement. Bids are scheduled to be opened on August 6, 2002.
Construction is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2002.
IV. Co §Sguences of Negative Action:
Non-concurrence of the above recommendation will significantly delay repair of the
roadway, prolonging impacts to local access and could result in the loss of the entire
traveled way.
