PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING SEPTEMBER 21, 2002
AS" WILDAID DAY"IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESOLUTION NO. 20OW417
WHEREAS, there is a critical need to protect endangered wildlife and their habitats
throughout California, the United States, and the world; and
WHEREAS, the success of all wildlife protection depends on keeping the public and
policy-makers informed,and
WHEREAS,WildAid directly protects endangered wildlife, trains and equips wildlife
law enforcement teams,campaigns nationally and internationally for truly effective
wildlife programs,and helps local conservation carps; and
WHEREAS,WildAid Day was established to help us recognize the importance of
wildlife as a barometer of ecological well being and to recognize the%xnportance of
wildlife and humankind surviving together; and
WHEREAS,WildAid Day 2002 will be a national celebration that will include three
days of activities in San Francisco and Washington I .C. to help us recognize the
importance of wildlife,and will also be the launch of WildAid on Tour, an educational
program and display that is to travel around the country in collaboration with partner
NGOs, aquariums,museums, and educational facilities around the United States:
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors proclaims
September 21,20€2 as"WildAid Day" in Contra Costa County.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on this
23rd Day of July,2002'
