I would like to participate with and be a member of the CYC because I genuinely care about the youth of our community I am a very dedicated and responsible person and to be liven an opportunity such as this would be an honor. It seems like a wonderful organization and it serves-a good cause. I've got so many ideas that I would love to share. List three issues that are your most important concerns for youth in your area or what needs to be improved in your community: Well, for one- Our community needs to have more youth involvement. Perhaps more than the mind boggling"involuntary" volunteer work. I often see outstanding students go unrecognized, something about that needs to change. Lastly, the teens of our community are so creative, that is something that should be shared with others. How could you, as a CYC Commissioner, help to address these issues: I would be more than happy to be involved with or even organize community fundraisers. Perhaps set up something where teenagers could find a volunteer opportunity that actually interests them. If possible it would be great to send out letters of recognition or hold a banquet for academically out- standing students. As an "artist"myself. I understand what it's like to have done somethingoy u're proud of mid have nobody to share it with. 1, if elected, would do my best to have student artwork publicized within the community. I know they are high hopes, but I strive for the best. Current community and school activities: I cull-cntly volunteer at a Community Church in Antioch (Golden Hills). I spend an hour and a half every other weekend helping out in the childcare department. In school, I was an active staff member of our tine arts magazine. A few of my pieces have been published in the magazine. l plan to be even More involved with the magazine in the years to come. I Low did you hear about CYC? I heard about it through the Contra Costa County website. NOTE: A Commissioner serves a two-year term. He I she is expected to attend an evening meeting once a month. Teen Drivers, mentors for kids to lower drop out rate, and importance of Education and life long learninga€stay in school. How could you as a CYC commissioners help address these issues? 1. Teen Driver: As I prepare for a drivers licenses I hear daily of people wrecking cars, joy riding, and this year a senior coming to the YearBook signing party is in a coma going 120 miles an hour on Highway 4 and hit a tree. He didn't attend graduation. Arrange high patrol officers or other speakers to talk to high school students. 2. Mentors: We need mentors to help students that need guidance or at risk. Maybe find a retired person that would take high-risk student. Try to lower student drop out. 3.) Education: CYC can organize Job fairsa€I.
