HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09182001 - C.14 RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING RESOLUTION NO. 2001/427 THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 17-23, 2001 AS POLLUTION PREVENTION WEEK WHEREAS, Contra Costa County recognizes that the natural resources of the San Francisco estuary are among California's most important environmental and economic resources; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is committed to the wise management of the bay area water bodies to ensure environmental protection, economic sustainability, and a clean and safe environment for its residents and succeeding generations; and WHEREAS, pollution prevention is an approach to environmental protection that focuses on eliminating or reducing pollution at its source and is therefore the preferable strategy for protection of our precious natural resources; and WHEREAS, a commitment by individual citizens, the business community, and public institutions is necessary to successfully achieve pollution prevention goals; and WHEREAS, Contra.Costa County recognizes Mt. View Sanitary District's public education program for which it received the 2001 public service award (small agency) from the California Association of Sanitation Agencies as one,of many partnerships between government, industry, corporations, and community organizations'working together for a prosperous and sustainable future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County recognizes pollution prevention needs partnerships between government, industry, corporations, special districts and community organizations in order to work together to plan for a prosperous and sustainable future and does hereby proclaim 6P 17 - ,23, 200-1 PASSED BY A UNANIMOUS VOTE OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS 18TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2001.
