Project positions requested: Permanent part-time 32/40 Public Health Nurse-Project position 2. Explain specific duties of position(s): The incumbent will coordinate health and dental services for children and adolescents in the juvenile justice system. 3. Name/purpose of project and funding source (do not use acronyms, i.e. SB40 Project or SDSS Funds) Health Care for Foster Children (HCFFQ is a federal program to improve health care services for foster children and children in the juvenile justice system. 4. Duration of the project: Start Date: June 2000 End Date: ongoing Is fimding for a specified period of time (i.e., 2 years) or on a year-to-year basis? Please explain. Funding is reallocated yearly and is budgeted for fiscal year 2001-02. 5. Project Annual Cost 1. Salary and Benefit Cost $80,390 2. Briefly explain the consequences of not filling the project position(s) in terms of: a) potential future costs b) legal implications C) financial implications d) political implications; and e) organizational implications Coordination of health care services for children in group homes would not occur. This could jeopardize the Probation Department's 4E Funds. 7. Briefly describe the alternative approaches to delivering the services which you have considered. Indicate why these alternatives were not chosen. Not providing these services is unacceptable. Using temporary positions is a costly way to hire and strain staff who leave for benefited positions in a professional that has a scarcity of qualified individuals. Departments requesting new project positions must submit an updated cost benefit analysis of each project position at the halfway point of the project duration. This report is to.be submitted to the Human Resources Department which will forward the report to the Board of Supervisors.
