SUBJECT: CHARITY CAMPAIGN PARTICIPATION
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE Bay Area Black United Fund as a participant in the County Costa County
Employees' Charity Campaign.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 72/857 setting forth regulations regarding
payroll deductions for charitable organizations. In 1980, the Board amended that resolution to
clarify the qualification procedures for organizations to be added for which payroll deductions
may be authorized.
The Bay Area Black United Fund (BABUF), 1212 Broadway, Suite 730, Oakland, CA 94612,
has qualified for the Charity Campaign by providing a petition with at least 350 employees'
signatures expressing an interest in and willingness to authorize payroll deductions for the
purpose of contributing to this organization. This organization has also provided the
requested information verifying its charitable organization status.
