HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09112001 - C.177 To: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: ` y William Walker, M.D. , Health Services Director ;fidi Contra By: Ginger Marieiro, .Contracts Administrator g' P' .= Costa DATE: August 29, 2001 County SUBJECT: Approval of Novation Contract #24-932-4 with Community Violence Solutions SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Donna Wigand, LCSW) to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #24-932-4 with Community Violence Solutions (formerly Rape Crisis Center) in an amount not to exceed $127, 000, to provide Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) Program services for children who have been sexually molested or traumatized, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 . This Contract includes a six-month automatic contract extension through December 31, 2002 , in an amount not to exceed $63 , 500 . FISCAL IMPACT• This Contract is funded 51 . 35% by Federal FFP Medi-Cal, 48 . 65% by State EPSDT Funds . CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This EPSDT Program supports the following Board of Supervisors ' community outcomes : 1) Children ready for and succeeding in school ; 2) Families that are safe, stable, and nurturing; and 3) Communities that are safe and provide a high quality of life for children and families . Expected program outcomes include an increase in positive social and emotionaldevelopment as measured by the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS) and a decrease in out-of-home placements as measured by mental health and social services statistics . BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : This Contract meets the social needs of County' s population in that it provides in-home and outpatient mental health services for Medi-Cal eligible children (and their families) who have been sexually molested or traumatized and are enrolled in the EPSDT Program. On July 18, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #24-932-3 with Rape Crisis Center for the period from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001 (which included a six-month automatic contract extension through December 31, 2001) to provide EPSDT program services . The Contractor has officially changed its name to Community Violence Solutions . Approval of Novation Contract #24-932-4 replaces the six-month automatic extension under the prior Contract, and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2002 .
