HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08072001 - C.62 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS William Walker, M.D. , Health Services Director FROM: By: Ginger Marieiro, Contracts Administrator - 'i `9 Contra . .111a' oS Costa DATE: July 18, 2001 cosrq'cd'uN County SUBJECT: Approval of Standard Agreement #29-395-17 with the State Department of Health Services, Office of AIDS SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D. ) , to execute on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement #29-395-17 with the State Department of Health Services, Office of AIDS, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002, in an amount not to exceed $6, 986 for the County' s AIDS Drug Assistance Program. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this agreement will result in an allocation of $6, 986 from the State for County's AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) , for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 . The allocation will be used to cover the cost of certain drugs, plus dispensing fees, for eligible low income persons with AIDS and/or AIDS related complexes. These funds may not be used to cover patient monitoring, laboratory testing, or other medical services for persons receiving any of the drugs. The County may make provisions for co-payment by patients, commensurate with the patient' s ability to pay. BACKGOUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : On July 25, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Agreement #29-395-16 with the State Office of AIDS, to cover the cost of certain drugs which have been included in the AIDS Drug Program by the State and determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to prolong the life of a person with AIDS, for eligible low income persons who are infected with HIV and/or persons with AIDS and related complexes who meet certain criteria. Approval of this Standard Agreement #29-395-17 provides funding for County's AIDS Drug Program, based upon actual and projected drug expenditures by the Department, through June 30, 2002 . Four certified and sealed copies of the Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit for distribution to the State Department of Health Services.
