On June 20, 2001, The Oakley-Knightsen Firefighters Association and the Oakley Fire Protection District (OKFPD) met with Kerri Watt and Alex Krell from Shea Homes. I greatly appreciated kerri and Alex's interest and commitment to provide Cypress Lakes with the life safety and fire protection that it deserves. On June 20, 2001 Kerri and Alex toured Oakley Station 93 and witnessed first hand what the Oakley-Knightsen Fire Protection District is capable of doing. The surrounding fire districts had multiple, major incidents occurring and were unable to completely staff equipment to handle them The OKFPD was able to send several of its resources to two different fire agencies while still covering our own fire district. Shea Homes, the Oakley-Knightsen Firefighters Association and the OKFPD have developed a good line of communication and it appears we share a common interest and concern about fire protection- We feel the continuance of our appeal is not necessary at this time and wish to withdrawal it. Furthermore, in your correspondence of July 31, 2001 you stated that the Community Development Department did not receive an alternate plan for service from the OKFPD. A duplicate copy will be forthcoming under a separate cover. I formally request that the report is dully noted and added to the records. The Oakley-Knilghtsen Firefighters Association looks forward to working with Shea homes and the Community Development Department. Please call me at (925) 625-1690 if you'have any questions.
