Ginger Marieiro, Contracts Administrator ' ' ,• Contra Costa DATE: July 11, 2001 .'. a. csT _ J County Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-3 with SUBJECT: Regents of the University of California, on behalf of University of California,; San Francisco SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Frank Puglisi) , to execute : on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-341;1 with Regents of the University of California, on behalf of Univ6rsity of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30 , 2004 for the provision of clinical experience for physical therapy students . FISCAL IMPACT: None . BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : The purpose of this agreement is to provide medical students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher levels of performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised field work experience in medicine is considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. As a teaching hospital, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and the Contra Costa Health Centers can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, taking advantage of the students ' services to patients . On September 15, 1998 , the Board of Supervisors approved Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-341 with the Regents of the University of California, on behalf of University of California, San Francisco, for the period from July 1, 1998 through June 30, 2001 . Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-341-1 will allow students from the University of California, San Francisco to continue to receive field instruction and experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and the Contra Costa Health Centers through June 30, 2004 .
