SUBJECT: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
to AMEND five contracts with the community-based organizations listed below, adding a total
of$65,000 to the Family Preservation and Support Program (FPSP) for the period from
September 1, 2000 through August 31, 2001.

RECOMMENDED ACTION_
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to AMEND
contracts with the five community-based organizations listed below, adding $65,000 to the Family
Preservation and Support Program (FPSP) for the period from September 1, 2000 through August 31, 2001:

FINANCIAL. IMPACT--
$65,000 Federal Family Preservation and Support Act: Zero County Cost; 25% State; 75% Federal.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMFNTo
This contract supports all five community outcomes: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School";
2)"Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3)"Families that are Economically
Self-Sufficient"; 4)"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and
Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families." Quality childcare services support all of the
outcomes established in the Children's Report Card. Children directly benefit from the care they receive
each day in a nurturing environment, while their parents pursue employment, education, and other
opportunities.
RACKGROIIND-
The Board approved the three-year Family Preservation and Support Program (FPSP) plan on June 15, 1999,
as approved by the Executive Committee of the policy forum.
Employment and Human Services issued an RFP in May 2000 and selected the above five contractors to
provide countywide FPSP program services. The amendments above will reallocate FPSP funds received by
EHSD to the FPSP community programs in Coronado (Richmond), North Richmond, Bay Point and Parkside
(Pittsburg).
