BARRY, AICP DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DATE: September 26, 2000 SUBJECT: Recommendation of the San Raman Valley Regional Planning Commission of 242 Trees Nominated for Heritage Status within the Stone Valley Oaks Project (Subdivision 6016) , in the Alamo/Danville area, File #HT990016. (District III) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMME ATIONS Adopt a motion to designate 242 trees nominated for heritage status as recommended by the San Ramon Valley Regional Planning Commission in Resolution #35-2000 . FISCAL IMPACT None BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS In 1999, the Board of Supervisors approved the Stone Valley Oaks project authorizing the construction of 47 single family residences in a clustered development which allowed retention of open space area. As a requirement of the subdivision approval, the applicant was required to file an application to nominate native trees on- site for heritage status pursuant to the County' s Heritage Tree Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 816-4) . The developer, Summerhill Homes, filed such an application to nominate 242 trees within the project for heritage status. The matter was initially heard by the San Ramon Valley Regional Planning Commission on June 21, 2000, at which time the Commission voted to recommend that the Board designate these trees for heritage designation. It should be noted that the Stone Valley Oaks project at the present time is in the early stages of development.
