Project positions requested: Health Education SpecialistAPR 21 j 2. Explain specific duties of position(s)Provide technical assistance and support to local Community Based Organizations conducting social marketing campaign activities; support development of campaign activities such as: prototypes for women and testing,mini-grant activities,HIV presentations, counseling and testing, development of evaluation modules. 3. Name/purpose of project and funding source(do not use acronyms, i.e. SB40 Project or SDSS Funds) HIV Social Marketing Project funded under the Master Grant Agreement MOU with the State Office of AIDS. 4. Duration of the project: Start Date: 7/98 End Date: 6/01 Is funding for a specified period of time(i.e.,2 years)or on a year-to-year basis? Please explain. This is a 3 year pilot project(in mid-term)with a strong potential for renewal. Initial indications are that methods used from this project will be incorporated into the other Education, Prevention and Testing MOUs our Program has with the State Office of AIDS. MOU Education, Prevention and Testing funding has been long-term and stable. 5. Project Annual Cost 1. Salary and Benefit Cost: est. $47,695 2. Funding is distributed through 2 other programs under the Master Grant Agreement: HIV Education and Prevention, and HIV Testing and Counseling. 6. Briefly explain the consequences of not filling the project position(s) in terms of: a) potential future costs- unknown at this time. The AIDS Program has been extremely short- staffed over the past 6 months. Loss of the position would jeopardize our ability to meet contractual obligations. b) legal implications--none known. C) financial implications- see"a" d) political implications—none known e) organizational implications—Currently have a contract employee doing the work. 7. Briefly describe the alternative approaches to delivering the services which you have considered. Indicate why these alternatives were not chosen. We are currently using a contract employee in this position.
