SUBJECT: ONE-YEAR LEASE RENEWAL,CHICANO LATINOS ACADEMIES REACHING OUT
(CLARO)
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE one year lease renewal for the Chicano Latinos Academies Reaching Out(CLARO)and
AUTHORIZE the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa to enter into a one
year Lease Renewal with the Chicano Latinos Academies Reaching Out for use of the Administration Building at
315 Orchard Drive,Brentwood,CA, as stated in the attached Lease Renewal.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND
The Administration Building at 315 Orchard Drive,Brentwood,CA, is used by the Chicano Latinos
Academies Reaching Out as an office and as a computer learning center. This space would be utilized to provide
educational and recreational programs for Public Housing residents of Brentwood and Oakley. This lease has been
in effect since June 30, 1996.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the Board of Commissioners elect not to authorize the Executive Director to enter into a one year
Lease Renewal with the Chicano Latinos Academies Reaching Out,the on-going programs developed by the
Chicano Latinos Academies Reaching Out would no longer function and this would be a detriment to the
development, as well as the community.

RENEWAL OF LEASE
THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT made and entered into this 1 st
day of_ July , 2000 , by and between the HOUSING AUTHORITY OF
THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA,herinafter referred to as the"Authority",
and CHICANO LATINOS ACADEMIES REACHING OUT (CLARO),
herinafter to be referred to as the"Agency":
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, by lease agreement between the parties hereto, dated
JULY 1 1996 ,the Authority leased to Agency the right
and privilege of occupying space in the Administration Building at 11-4, 315
Orchard Drive,Brentwood, CA of the Authority; and
WHEREAS,the Agency desires and the Authority is Willing that such
lease be renewed for the term of one(1)year.
NOW, THEREFORE,the Authority for and in consideration of the
promises and covenants in the aforesaid lease, and other valuable consideration,
the receipt of Which is hereby acknowledged,hereby agrees that said lease shall
be, and it hereby is,renewed beginning JULY 1, 2000 thru JUNE 30 2001.
The Agency hereby covenants and agrees that during the course of the
renewal period the Agency shall perform and be bound by all of the covenants
and conditions contained in said lease agreement of JULY 1 1,996
IN WITNESS WHEREOF,the parties have set their hands the day and
year first hereinabove set forth.
