Services Director or his designee (Chuck Deutschman) to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #24-979-2 with. Addiction Research and Treatment, Inc. , dba Bay Area Addiction Research and Treatment (BAART) in the amount of $2 , 747,244, for the period from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000, for provision of methadone nalntenance treatment services. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2000, in the amount of $1, 373 , 622 . gCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded as fellows. $1, 416,204 Federal Medi-Cal Funds 1,331,040 State Drug Program Funds $2,747,244 'dotal No County Funds are required. BCR On December S, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-979 (as amended by contract Amendment Agreement #24-979-1) with Addiction Research and Treatment, Inc. , for the period from October 1:, 1998 through :rune 30, 1999 (which included a six--month automatic extension through 'December 31, 1999) to provide methadone treatment services through its Methadone Maintenance Clinics Program (Medi-Cal. Drug Abuse Treatment Services) in Fast and west County. BACKGROUND TREASON t S) FOR REC0MMEfi11'3A' XQN LSj i On December 1, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #24-933-2 (as amended by subsequent Amendments #24-933-3 , #24-933®4, and #24-933-5) with Crestwood Behavioral: Health, Inc. for the period from July 1, 1398 through :Tune 30 1999 (with an automatic extension through December 31, 1999) to provide admission and intensive day treatment of County-referred mentally ill persons who are in need of sub-acute skilled nursing care in an Institution for the Mentally Diseased (IMD) . At the time Contract #24--933-2 was negotiated, the payment limit was based upon targeted levels of utilization. However, the utilization of services has exceeded the Department's projections.
