ACKNOWLEDGE receipt of a memorandum dated August 178 1999 from the Labor Relations
Manager regarding a petition filed by AFSCME Local 512 requesting Formal Recognition of a
proposed representation unit of Counselor-Family Court Services.
In accordance with Section 34-12.004 of the County's Employer-Employee Relations Resolution
31 '1165. on Jure 22, 1999 AFSCME Local 512 fled a petition for Formal Recognition as
representative of the employees in the classification of Counselor-Family Court Services
employed by the Superior Court of California,County of Contra Costae The petition qualified in
that at least thirty percent (30%) of the employees in the proposed representation unit signed the
petition.

SUBJECT: Petition on behalf of AFSCME Local 512 for Formal Recognition of a
proposed representation unit of Counselor-Family Court Services
In accordance with Section 4-12,004 (1) of the County's Employer-Employee
Relations Resolution 81/1165, this is to advise the Board of Supervisors that on
Jure 22, 1999, AFSCME Local 512 fled a petition for Formal Recognition of a
proposed representation unit of employees in the classification of Counselor-
Family Court Services employed by the Superior Court of California County of
Contra Costa.
Proof of employee approval exceeds the minimum thirty percent (30%)
requirement for qualifying the petition.
In accordance with Section 34-12.004 (2) and by copy of this memorandum,
other recognized employee organizations are advised that intervention in the unit
determination process and/sir to appear on a representational election ballot
requires thirty percent (30%) of employee approval and must be submitted to
the Labor Relations Manager within twenty-orae (21) calendar days from the date
of this memo.
In addition, please be advised that following the intervention process, Section 34-
12,004 (3) requires the Labor Relations Manager to review the proposed unit to
determine its appropriateness pursuant to the criterion set forth in Section 34-
12.006.
