The Board of Supervisors directed the Public Works and Community Development Departments
to develop a Management Programa for the Southern Pacific light of Way frorn Concord to the
Alameda County lire. The Management Program shall include a landscaping component that will
provide criteria for landscaping within the riga of way and look at financing mechanisms for
implementation and maintenance ®f landscaping, An Advisory Committee was formed to work
with the two departments to develop the landscaping component of the Management Programa,
In, April "1988 the Committee and staff selected a consultant, Bluhon Planning Group, to develop
the landscaping component of the program. The administrative draft is complete and ready for
circuiation for review. It €s necessary to extend the consultant's contract to allow adequate time
for review and input by the cities of Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Danville and San
Ramon, and the public. €he number of revisions needed was more than originally estimated and
it is necessary to increase the payment limit to cover the additional labor and production costs.
IV. Conse-quences of Neese Action:
Lack of approval YMili limit the amount of review by cities along the corridor and by the public.
