APPROVAL OF INTERAGENCY Y A ENDMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE CONTRA COSTA
COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT.

I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director or designee to execute Interagency Agreement
Amendment #39-811-1€3 with the Contra Costa Community College District to increase the payment limit by
$9,087 to a new contract payment limit of $826,4fl4 for instructional materials and supplies for the expanded
state preschool program for the period from January 1, 1999 through Jane 30, .1999.
11, FINANCIAL LPACT:
No County funding is required. The Contra Cresta C=ommunity College District receives its funding for this
Agreement from the California Department of Educations. Funding from this Agreement will be added to the
Community Services Department's budget via an appropriation adjustment.
Ill. CHILDREN'S I PACT STATEMENT:
The Comnyanity.Services Department Child Development program, supports two of Contra Costa County's
con nu*ty outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School" and "Families that are Safe, Stable and
Nurturing," These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early
childhood education, nutrition, and health to low-income -children throughout Contra Costa County,
IV. REASONS FOR RECf MT MET `I€NS/B CKQ&OLTND:
On August 11, 1-998 the Board approved Interagency Agreement #39-811-8 with time Contra Costa Co unity
College District (College District) for expanded state preschool services. Since then, the California
Department of Education (State) has approved supplemental funding for instructional-materials and supplies
from Child Care and Development General Fund encumbered but unexpended monies, pursuant to the 1998
Budget Act.
Approval of this contract will allow the Community Services Department's Child Development Division to
purchase developmentally appropriate and curriculum related instructional materials and supplies for
approximately 320 children served by the expanded state preschool program.
