May 11 , 1999 through April 30, 20r0, to be paid as follows : a) Obstetric and Gvnecoloc r Surgical. Eroceduree: {1-; For initial surgical procedure performed on sage patient, same day, 9-n xuns€red-fifty percent (150%) in accordance with the medicare Physician's RBRVS Fee Schedule, in effect on the date of surgery; (2) For second surgical procedure perform ed on same patient, same day, one hundrg!• Rercent 100%) in accordance with the Medicare Physician's RBR 7S Fee Schedule, i_n effect on the date of surgery, (3) For any additional surgical procedures performed on same patient, same day, Fifty percent 0% in accordance with the - edicare P'i ician's RBRVS Tree Schedule, in effect on the date of surgery; and h} Contractor's compensation includes payment for the provision of the following professional. services: Pre-operative and post-operative care of patients as necessary, twenty-four hour on-call coverage, and in-service training of Registered Nurses, as scheduled by `o=ty. FISCAL IMPACT: Cost to the County depends upon utilization. AS appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. BACXGRO /REASON(S) FC R RECOMMENDATIQN(S) : For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to provide specialized professional services which are not of her wise avail ab le in its hospital and clinics. Under Contract 26-- 961, Contractor Will provide Obstetric/Gynecology surgical services, including, but not limited to pre-operative and post.-- operative care of patients, twenty--four hour on-call coverage, and in- service training for Registered Nurses at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa. Health Centers through April 30, 2000 . Contract #23- 226-1 with Boehm and Associates, for the period from July 1, 1998 through june 30, 1999, for cons-.1tation and technical assistance with regard to Workers ' Compensation and third Warty liability recovery. Approval of Contract #23226-2 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional consultation and technical assistance to the Department ' s Finance Division through June 30, 2000 . B.+B'S6.sZS'GY.t4.\/ C i6.d.ESSOif 1 �gR .&1 ECOMMSai�f�id,X3�TAV#�ti i.'} a For several years the County has contracted with nursing registries to provide tewporary licensed nursing personnel to assist Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers during peak loads, temporary absences and emergency situations in critical areas . There is a nationwide nursing shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses, the Department has experienced great difficulty in falling any vacant positions. Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality nursing care for patients . Under Contract 26-374, STAT Nursing Services will provide nursing registry services through May 31, 2000 . Approval of Contract #266934-2, will allow Dr. Tsai, to continue providing Ophthalmology services through September 30, 2999 . FINANCIAL IMPACT: This Contract is included in the Health Services Department' s Budget and is funded by AH 2185 inspection fees . REASONS FOR REQOMME�AT� �� On March 17, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved. Contract 22-351.-7 with the City of Ric=h-mond (Fire Department) , for the period from July 1., 1937 through June 30 , 1998 (which included a one-year autorrat1c extension thro�gn June 30, 1999) , to provide Hazardous Materials training services . This purpose of this amendment is to extend the Contract so that services are not disrupted, pending final negotiations between the Department° s Hazardous Materials Divisions and the City of Riphm7ond. Approval of Contras: Amendment Agreement '#'22-351- will allow the Contractor to continue providing services under the automatic extension, through December 31, 1999.
